I met Lauren in 4th or 5th grade after she was on my little dribblers basketball team. We ended up being neighbors as well as teammates on our school volleyball teams the following years. We became really close friends in 10th grade and went through so many seasons of life together. First heartbreaks, getting our licenses, our first car wrecks, prom, her being my first photography subject when I was just beginning, traveling abroad, going off to college, and so much more.
When we hit senior year in high school, we were both ready for the next chapter. New beginnings, new faces, new experiences, we thought we’ve accomplished pretty much everything we can in our small town.
At the very end of senior year, I had been in a math class with a really nice guy named Brad. He is the only reason I passed that class.. let’s be honest! One day around late April or early May, I was telling him a story about how my friend Lauren & I were in gym class together and something really funny happened. I get to the end of what I think is a funny story and he just looks at me and says, “You know Lauren Daigle? She’s really pretty! I’ve had a crush on her for awhile. Do you think you could introduce us?” After I picked my jaw up off of the floor, I told him I would see what I could do (already wanting to plan their wedding in my head)!
Being the typical girl that I am, as soon as the bell rang, I told Lauren to come meet me in my car. I tell her all about what had just happened and she was so flattered. She left it at the mindset, “If nothing else comes of it, this was one of the biggest compliments & surprises ever.”
Fast forward to a few days later and I finally get the chance to introduce Brad & Lauren. It was probably one of the most awkward moments ever, but so funny to look back on! These two started dating on our senior prom night, endured hard long distance dating, and finally got to attend college together at Texas A&M and have been inseparable ever since!
This shoot meant so much to me and reminded me about how God’s plans are so much better than our own. The fact that God used me when I wasn’t following Him to bring these two together for His glory is something that still blows my mind. Brad & Lauren are coming up on their 4th year of marriage and I’m even more encouraged and inspired by them today than I was 8 years ago.
